The USS Sequoia is 104' in length and has an 18' 2" beam. She was built in 1925 by the Mathis Yacht Shipbuilding Company,
Camden, New Jersey. She was fitted out in March of 1933 as the Presidenatial Yacht by President Herbert Hoover. She has
served as a place of refuge and relaxation for many Presidents over the years. Many Presidents spent a great deal of time
on the Sequoia, fishing and entertaining during the pre-airconditioning Washington summers. In later years many famous
Presidentail meetings and events took place aboard the Sequia. The Sequoia was declared a national historic landmark in 1988.
She was auctioned off by President Jimmy Carter in 1977 to private owners and is now available for charter trips along the
Potomac or into Chesapeake Bay.
